Your Milford Sound adventure with Milford Sound Select can start from either Queenstown or Te Anau. It will last the whole day and whilst not over-tiring, it is a day packed full of sights and experiences.
Your day starts on the road, as you travel by luxury coach on the famous Milford Sound highway. Your comfort and safety are very important to us, and whenever it is safe to stop (i.e. there are no avalanche warnings), we will stop en route for photographs, sightseeing and comfort breaks.
As our adventure continues, we drive through the Homer Tunnel, an impressive feat of engineering which eventually allowed road access to Milford Sound in 1954. We wind along narrow roads overlooking lakes, tarns and mountains until we reach Milford Sound itself.
Once at Milford Sound, you board a small cruise ship to experience the magic and mystery of Milford up close. You may encounter dolphins, seals, penguins and birdlife as you cruise the waters towards Mitre Peak. If it is raining, you will see hundreds of waterfalls cascading down the valleys and rainforested slopes of the sound.
